Crustocean Feeds - Guarantees
Crustocean Feeds are produced under a Total Quality Concept for the complete production process from the production of raw materials till the feed delivery.

Five groups of parameters are identified:
	Raw materials Production Quality control Traceability

1. Raw Materials

• Concentrates and premixes are produced at the feed factory of VDS Belgium (GMP certified).
• Compounds included in Annex IV to council regulation (EC) n° 2377/90 of June 1990 are not used in the formulation of the feeds
• Antibacterial substances, including sulphonomides are not used in the formulation of the feeds
• Anthelminthics are not used in the formulation of the feeds
• Mycotoxins are not used in the formulation of the feeds, mould-inhibitors are added in the feeds.
• Organochlorine compounds, including PCB’s, are not used in the formulation of the feeds
• Terrestrial mammals meal and avian meal are not used in the formulation of the feeds
• All animal origin ingredients are derived from wild harvested marine fish and invertebrates.
• Products of vegetable origin are GMO free.
• Phosphates: The phosphate content of the feed comes partially from the raw materials, and partially from mineral sources, which are for more than 90% available for shrimp. No calciumphosphate is used.
• Marine protein meals : No crustacean meal from warm water or aquaculture origin is used in the formulation of the feeds
  
• To produce 1 kg of shrimp with Crustocean feeds, less than 0.5 kg fish has been fished. All other marine proteins are produced from by-products of human consumption.
• Storage of the raw materials at the feed factory: All raw materials are stacked on pallets and isolated from the walls.

2. Production
VDS Crustocean feeds are produced according to pre-described guidelines, drawn up in all production units, and based on the GMP Guidelines of the Food and Agricultural Organization.
Shrimp feeds are produced under supervision of a VDS production manager
Crustocean Feeds are only produced by approved franchise partners

3. Quality control
Raw materials: All batches of raw materils are analysed at arrival for their compliance with specifications.
Feeds: All batches of feeds are analyzed for the following parameters: Moisture, leaching loss, % dust, granulometry, hardness.


4. Trace-ability
All batches of feeds are sampled and samples are stored. Analysis and Ingredients used in those batches are monitored. A Customer Data Sheet is compiled and sent to the customer, containing the following details: detailed packing list with production batch numbers, ingredients used and their origin, composition and physical characteristics, guarantees, Laboratory results.
